Jungle Trekking From Ketambe

Ketambe is a small village in the middle of Gunung Leuser National Park, where we love to welcome visitors and show them the beauty of our forests. Trekking from Ketambe will show you some of the last pristine forest in South East Asia, and we can plan a trip suitable for your needs, preferences and group size.

Our jungle treks can be short, simple trips into the local areas of rainforest where we can look for different species of plants and animals while enjoying the beauty of nature, intense multi-day hikes which will take you deep into the remote areas of deep jungle, or anything in between!

Together we will visit some of the Leuser Ecosystem's most beautiful landscapes, from ancient trees and secluded valleys to mountaintop lakes and steaming natural hot springs. We will camp in the forest, enjoying the sights and the sounds of nature. There is so much to explore and I will be happy to be your experienced local guide.

I will help to spot, identify and understand some of the amazing plants and animals which can be found in the forest, lead you on the best routes to get the best experience, and make sure everyone is safe and comfortable during our trek.

My team of assistant guides will also handle the logistics and preparation that we need to explore the jungle together, so you don't need to worry about anything except just enjoying your time in the Leuser forest.

Camping in the Jungle

Gunung Leuser National Park is one of the last really wild forests in Southeast Asia, and Ketambe is right in the middle of it. Spending time overnight in the forest is one of the best ways to experience the sights and sounds of this environment, and also to increase the chances of spotting some rare animals.

We have many years experience leading overnight treks into the forest, and together we will enjoy 3 simple, delicious meals each day, share stories and play games by the fire before going to sleep in our waterproof tents that will be prepared for you with everything you need for a comfortable night's sleep.

We care about protecting our forests and keeping them healthy for the future, including all the plants and animals who live there. That's why our treks into the jungle do not leave behind any trash (except maybe when some monkeys steal a packet of biscuits when we are not looking!). We always ask our guests to respect the forest ecosystem and make sure their trash is collected so we can bring it back and leave the forest in a beautiful condition.
